The leader of the opposition on Swansea Council, Chris Holley has praised all the postal workers who are going above and beyond to deliver a first-class Christmas even in hard times.
Postal works are having a difficult and busy time. With having to provide services under increased demand, at the same time as putting into place COVID safe workplaces. At the heart of our communities are the postal workers who are working through appalling weather conditions and huge pressures to ensure that as Swansea residents we can all have a first-class Christmas even in hard times.
Councillor Holley was speaking in the light of news that Royal Mail sorting rooms have been inundated with parcels as people switch their shopping online, while those out delivering are often starting and finishing work in darkness.
'From the very beginning of this pandemic back in March of this year, our postal workers have been at the forefront in local communities, continuing to deliver letters and parcels, helping to keep people in touch and looking out for those who were vulnerable and living on their own,' Chris Holley said.
'Now as we are approaching Christmas, the pressures on our postmen and women has grown exponentially, but they have shown that they are up for the challenge and are continuing to provide an invaluable service in all weathers. They deserve our thanks and praise for their commitment and dedication and to look forward to a well-earned Christmas break.'
