Swansea East Liberal Democrats have selected Chloe Hutchinson to fight the constituency in the forthcoming General Election.
Chloe has recently completed a term as Education Officer for the Swansea University Students' Union, where she focused on mental health support, widening participation, and building a more inclusive academic experience for all.
She moved to Swansea for university in 2014, and continues to live in the city after graduating with a degree in History and Politics. In her spare time, she loves to read and plays the clarinet.
In addition to being a proud internationalist, Chloe is passionate about the environment, education, and human rights. She previously served as the chair of both the Feminist and Amnesty International societies at Swansea University. She is a strong advocate for women’s rights and works to make politics a more inclusive place for people from all walks of life.
Commenting on her selection, Chloe said: ‘This election is an opportunity to send a message to Westminster that we will not be lied to any longer. The Liberal Democrats are the only UK party committed to staying in the European Community because it is the best deal that we have for saving jobs, for our future prosperity, to protect our standard of living and for our future peace and security.
‘For too long, pro-Brexit politicians have lied to us about the so-called benefits of us leaving the EU. The last three years have shown that their claims are false and that any deal which takes us out of Europe will be a disaster for our economy, for workers’ rights and for the environment. The Liberal Democrats are our best chance of reversing that disastrous choice.’
